Nowadays, ‘how-to’ blog posts are extremely popular. People love ‘em! But… do you really want to give away all of your trade secrets in your blog?

This is a question I hear pretty often. Let’s say I have a website where I’m trying to gain customers for my SEO consultancy business. Why would I want to have a blog where I share all my secrets on how to do SEO?

Or a different example: if you bake and decorate beautiful miniatures, why would you want to create step-by-step tutorials explaining how your readers can make them themselves?

Aren’t you losing customers by doing this?

Surprisingly, this can actually be true. Yes, giving away all your secrets in your blog may actually harm your business.
